Interview on the radio

Today (Monday 17th Jan), local radio station, Gateway 97.8, will broadcast the first of my two interviews. The 30 minute interview will be aired sometime between 1-4pm via the stations website......click here
In the first interview, I talk about how I got into art, what kind of artwork I produce, current projects Im working on etc. I also talk about helping teach art at local schools with caricaturist, Steve Hearn. Steve explains to the children how they can produce portraits (which children often find hard to draw), simply by using numbers and letters.
If you are looking to get into art but arent sure how, or you are looking to start an art course but not sure which one...please feel free to contact me.

Below are a selection of websites I highly recommend-

Last year 35 artist exhibited at 30 venues across the borough. You can find out what happened last year, by clicking here.

Happy 2011 from Carl Brind

Let me start by wishing you all a happy 2011. I hope you had a great time over the festive period. Apologies for the lack of blogs towards the end of 2010. Things got a bit hectic with work, family etc. Anyway, I wont bore you with all that.
I hit the new year running, with lots of new and exciting projects. Ive started on some character development artwork. Its the first time Ive done anything like this, but Im really enjoying it. The characters are to be part of a game. At the moment thats all I can say but watch this space!!!
Ive also started work on a painting for Pete Best, the original drummer of The Beatles. Ill be posting photos on the progress of the work. Im hoping to take the painting up to him in the summer, when I visit Liverpool.
Im also busy getting work prepared to submit to the A127 Trail. Click here to visit the website or click here to visit their blog. I was lucky enough to be involved in the 2010 art trail. Its something I would defiantly recommend if you are artistic and live in the Basildon, Billericay and Wickford area.
Ill continue to post videos, website links, articles which I hope you will enjoy and find useful. Thanks for stopping by and taking the time to read my blog and all the best for 2011!!!

The A127 Trail 2011

Posted in By Carl Brind 0 comments

2011 brings a whole new trail to the Basildon, Billericay and Wickford area. After the huge success of the 2010 Basildon District Art Trail, we are pleased to announce plans are well underway for a bigger and better art trail for 2011. Artists from Basildon, Billericay and Wickford will once again have the opportunity to exhibit their artwork at venues around the area. The dates for the 2011 trail are 9th Sept -18th Sept.
Less than a month after the end of the 2010 trail, the committee were already preparing for the next trail. A new look? A different approach? More venues and artists? All these questions and more were discussed, however the largest decision was prompted by a political change, as Basildon moved from being a district to a borough. And so we unveil our new name: A127 Trail

The trail can be followed at
Facebook : A127 Trail

Applications to be an exhibiting artist are now open, please download a form here. The closing date for all applicants is the 31st January 2011, so please don't be afraid to enter.
